How We Make Laminated Glass
- Cutting & washing - Panes are cut to size, edge-worked and washed in a clean room to remove every particle.
- PVB layup - Interlayer film is laid between the panes in a temperature and humidity controlled room.
- Pre-press & autoclave - Air is removed by rolling pre-press, then the stack is bonded under heat and pressure in an autoclave.
- Edge trim & QC - Excess film is trimmed, then adhesion, bubbles and appearance are inspected before packing.
FAQ
What is the difference between PVB and SGP interlayer?
PVB is the economical standard for most safety glazing. SGP (ionoplast) is about 5x stronger and 100x stiffer than PVB - recommended for structural balustrades, floors and hurricane glazing.
Can laminated glass be used for railings and balustrades?
Yes - laminated tempered glass is the standard choice for frameless balustrades. Even if one pane breaks, the interlayer keeps the panel in place and prevents falls.
Can you combine laminated glass with tempered glass?
Absolutely. Tempered + laminated combinations (e.g. 6mm tempered + 0.76 PVB + 6mm tempered) deliver both impact strength and post-breakage integrity - the premium solution for balustrades and facades.
